John Costigan Watercolor Goat in Snow

This watercolor by John Costigan (1888-1972 ) shows his wife searching for their goat in the snow at night.  The broad brushwork creates a dynamic, imaginative scene typical of Costigan.  Within the matt (image) measures 18-1/2 x 24".  Painting is signed Costigan, NA and is estimated to be circa 1960.  The painting displays well in its custom, original gold and black handcarved frame from a gallery on E. 80th St., NYC.
